WIND ENSEMBLE
Considered our Varsity level performing ensemble. To be a part of this group, students must demonstrate the highest level of musical maturity, technical proficiency, and commitment to rehearsal and practice time. Students must be serious about pursuing individual goals on their instrument as well as working toward ensemble goals. Auditioning for The All-Region Band and playing a solo and performing an ensemble at both Solo and Ensemble Recitals is expected. Private lessons are required. This group will perform at UIL, as well as other regional and national music festivals as appropriate. Wind Ensemble will require outside of school sectionals/full band rehearsals on a regular basis.
SYMPHONIC BAND
Considered our Junior Varsity performing ensemble. To be a part of this group, students must demonstrate a high level of musical maturity, technical proficiency, and commitment to rehearsal and practice time. Auditioning for The All-Region Band and playing a solo at Solo and Ensemble Contest is expected. Private lessons are strongly encouraged. This group will perform at UIL, as well as other regional music festivals as appropriate. Symphonic Band will require outside of school sectional/full band rehearsals on a regular basis.
CONCERT BAND
Considered our Non Varsity performing ensemble. The focus of this group is development of skills with emphasis on fundamentals. To be a part of this group, students must demonstrate the desire to achieve a high level of musical maturity, technical proficiency, and commitment to rehearsal and practice time. Auditioning for The All-Region Band is encouraged, and playing a solo at Solo and Ensemble Contest is expected. Private lessons are strongly encouraged. This group will perform at UIL, as well as other regional music festivals as appropriate. Concert Band will require outside of school sectional/full band rehearsals on a regular basis.
MARCHING BAND
The Pride of Granbury Marching Band is the top marching ensemble at GHS consisting of approximately 170 members in all four grades. It is the largest and most recognized performing group at Granbury High School. Personnel for the Competition Band is selected during band camp each Fall. All members of the Marching Band perform at the halftime show of all football games. Members of the Competition Band regularly participates in Marching Competitions. Membership in the marching band is required for all GHS band members.
COLORGUARD
The Colorguard is the auxiliary squad of the marching band and is open to both male and female members. This specialized group hosts auditions in the Spring for the following Fall semester. During the Spring, the colorguard participates as a Winterguard in competitions. JAZZ BAND
The Jazz Band is an auxiliary performing group that meets during 8th period. They play at all the band concerts as well as other school functions. During the spring semester, the Jazz Band also competes in local contests in DFW. Members of the Jazz Band must also be enrolled in band.
